ProCon Product Consultant, reporting to the Programme Manager

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

8over8 Ltd. is a UK-based software and services company, whose flagship product, the ProCon Contract Lifecycle Management System is being adopted by a growing number of International Oil & Gas Companies as the standard solution for capital construction contract management.  8over8 already has an established customer base, but as a result of major recent project wins we are looking to establish permanent presences in Houston and Abu Dhabi, as well as adding to the our existing London-based Services Team, to provide effective pre- and post-sales support to current and potential customers. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The role’s primary responsibilities are within the ProCon Implementation Team:

·         Participate in business process design workshops with 8over8 Customers to capture functional requirements based on definition of customer business processes and workflows

·         Configure the ProCon application based on a documented Functional Specification compiled by an 8over8 Senior Product Consultant and agreed with the Customer

·         Work directly with Customer Lead Users to optimise the configuration and use of the system

·         Manage the User Acceptance Testing Cycle through to completion and acceptance by the Customer

In addition the role will involve an element of Customer Support:

·         Provide first line support to Middle East based customers to resolve queries and manage the customer change request pipeline

·         Work with the UK-based Customer Support Team to resolve customer queries requiring 2^nd Line Support

EXPERIENCE

* - either Oil & Gas or Engineering & Construction or Contracting & Procurement experience is acceptable

Working hours:    09h00 – 17h30 when office-based; determined by project requirements when on customer site.

Place of work:      UK, North America, and UAE positions are available. Frequent travel to customer sites within existing markets will be required.

Salary:                    Dependent on experience. Company bonus scheme based on achievement of individual and company targets; performance and salary reviewed annually.

The Strategic Product Advisor (Contract Management Specialist) will support the Product Manager in the definition, delivery and successful launch of 8over8’s products and services.

A fundamental part of this role is providing domain knowledge, leadership and direction while overseeing projects in product development and product maintenance as directed by the Product Manager.

Activities will include the management of communications and project updates in a multi-discipline team environment, coordinating with other key functions such as Development, Services, Sales and Marketing. The Strategic Product Advisor will also work with Product Manager to research and develop detailed business case analyses to ensure that business requirements are clearly defined for the Development team.

This senior position is based in our Derry, Northern Ireland head office.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years experience in the oil and gas industry in a commercial role, preferably contract management
• Experience of working in a major capital projects environment
• Solid written, listening and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate clearly via telephone, computer and in person at all organisation levels
• Ability to quickly and accurately analyse and map business processes, especially those that involve corporate IT systems (e.g. ERP, document management, cost control)
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment, and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in personal computing skills, specifically using Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project software applications
• Knowledge of web applications
• Aptitude for understanding the technical aspects of software development
• Willing to travel throughout the world to interview customers, perform business analysis, attend ProCon User Groups

Your role will be primarily focused on the analysis, design, development and QA of the next generation modules of the 8over8 ProCon product suite and the on-going improvement of the current product to meet the needs of our global customers. You will be encouraged to proactively participate in the evolution of the core architecture & technology framework of our product-set through the using new and emerging technologies. You will also use your commercial software development experience to offer improvements to internal processes, methodologies of our development lifecycle and in mentoring less experienced team members.
This role requires at least 2 years previous experience in a relevant software development environment

This role requires at least 2+ years experience of delivering successful web-based enterprise applications through the full product lifecycle.

Specific technical skill should include:

 • Fundamental programming and software development debugging and testing skills
 • Good knowledge and experience of building/maintaining robust enterprise level web applications
 • Experience in HTML, JavaScript & CSS
 • Knowledge of Server Side Technologies such as ASP, ASP.Net (or similar such as JSP, Servlets)
 • Familiarity with Object Oriented Design and Implementation should be capable of understanding and implementing all middle tier components, such as business services & rules, error handling, transaction handling and auditing.
 • Possess strong SQL programming skills and understand all of the principles of database programming and design.
 • Be capable of efficiently tracking down problems within code by making effective use of available debugging and tracing tools.

Non Technical
 • Proficient at producing high quality documentation for both technical and non technical audiences.
 • Experience in designing clean and functional Web Application user interfaces.
 • Experience of working within a team which adheres to well defined software development process.
 • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
 • Strong customer orientation.
 • Experience with AGILE development practices.

 • Creating design documents, work breakdowns and assisting in formulating project schedules.
 • Providing technical solution design recommendations for specific feature and customer requests.
